EGGMAN EMPIRE

THE STORY

Green Hill Zone. The most famous stretch of land in the entire world — rolling emerald hills, spiralling palm trees, crystal-clear skies, and the nauseating smell of fresh flowers.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik — the self-declared greatest scientific genius in history — absolutely cannot stand it.

For years, that insufferable blue hedgehog has thwarted every one of Robotnik's grand schemes. Every time the Doctor was on the verge of global domination, Sonic came spinning through and ruined everything. The Chemical Plant. The Death Egg. Eggmanland. All of it, reduced to rubble by a hedgehog with an attitude problem.

Not this time.

While Sonic is busy being annoyingly heroic elsewhere, Robotnik has set his sights on something personal. Green Hill Zone itself. That idyllic paradise Sonic calls home. He's going to industrialise every last square inch of it — replace every flower with a smokestack, every hill with a factory, every chirping bird with a mechanical Badnik worker.

The Eggman Empire begins here. And it begins NOW.

OBJECTIVE

You play as Dr. Eggman commanding his Badnik army in a real-time strategy game. Your mission: terraform 90% of Green Hill Zone into industrial wasteland before Sonic and his friends destroy your headquarters.

Build a network of industrial structures expanding outward from your Egg Base HQ, deploy Badnik units to gather resources, and fend off counterattacks from Sonic's allies — all while managing rings, oil, and metal to keep the empire growing.

Terraform 90% of the map to WIN. Lose the HQ to 8 hits and it's game over.

BADNIK UNITS

Badniks are Eggman's robot workforce. They are deployed instantly from the HQ and roam the map automatically.

BadnikRoleCost
Motobug Gathers Rings passively every 2 seconds 40 Rings
Crabmeat Mines Metal from the terrain 50 Rings
Grounder Drills for Oil from underground deposits 60 Rings
Buzz Bomber Air attack unit — destroys Sonic's Star Post checkpoints 80 Rings + 20 Metal
Orbinaut Defender — intercepts hero spin attacks. Loses one spike ball per hit, destroyed after 5 hits 70 Rings + 30 Metal

โš ๏ธ Each subsequent Badnik of the same type costs progressively more (e.g. 2nd Motobug costs 80 Rings, 3rd costs 120, etc.). Costs reduce if Sonic destroys one.

BUILDINGS

Buildings terraform the map and generate resources. They must be placed adjacent to the HQ or another existing building. Some require specific terrain types.

BuildingBonusCostNotes
Animal Capsule +2 Power Cap 50 Rings Small footprint, chain-build cheaply
Chemical Plant +5 Power Cap 150 Rings + 40 Metal Essential for larger Badnik armies
Oil Ocean Rig +3 Oil/sec 120 Rings + 30 Metal Must be placed on an oil pool tile
Scrap Brain Factory +4 Metal/sec 180 Rings Must be placed on a rock tile
Casino Night Tower +8 Rings/sec 100 Metal + 100 Oil Passive luxury income building
Oil Refinery +6 Oil/sec, +2 Rings/sec 300 Rings + 80 Oil Requires existing oil to build
Death Egg +15R, +8O, +8M/sec, +10 Power 1000R + 500O + 500M Massive 5-tile terraform radius

๐Ÿ’ก Bonus income tip: An Oil Ocean Rig placed directly on an oil pool tile earns +2 bonus Oil/sec. A Scrap Factory placed on a rock tile earns +2 bonus Metal/sec.

๐Ÿ• In Normal and Hardboiled difficulty, buildings take time to construct before providing any bonus. The Death Egg takes the longest — plan ahead!

THE HEROES — SONIC'S ALLIES

Sonic and his friends will counterattack once you've started terraforming. Each hero unlocks when you reach a terraform milestone:

HeroColourUnlocks AtBehaviour
Sonic the Hedgehog Blue 0% (from 5% terraform) Fast spin attacker, standard damage
Tails Orange 15% terraformed Slightly slower, moderate damage
Amy Rose Pink 30% terraformed Moderate speed and damage
Knuckles Red 45% terraformed Slower but hits harder
Shadow Black 60% terraformed Fastest of all, highest damage

Heroes always target Orbinauts first (if any are on the map), then other Badnik units, and only attack your HQ directly when the map is completely clear. The HQ can only take 8 hits before it's destroyed — place Orbinauts near it!

Attack frequency scales up as you terraform more of the map — the closer you get to 90%, the more relentless the assault becomes.

CHAOS EMERALDS — POWER-UPS

Seven Chaos Emeralds randomly appear on the map as spinning coloured gems. Click or tap one before it disappears to claim a random bonus:

  • โž• +50 Rings / +50 Oil / +50 Metal — instant resource injection
  • โšก +5 Max Power — expand your Badnik deployment capacity
  • ๐Ÿ’Š Full Badnik heal — restores all unit HP instantly
  • ๐Ÿ  Full HQ heal — restores the Egg Base to full HP
  • ๐ŸŒŸ +30 of all three resources — the rare white emerald bonus

Emeralds appear more frequently on Easy and very rarely on Hardboiled. They don't spawn until you've reached 5% terraform.

STAR POSTS — SONIC'S CHECKPOINTS

Sonic's golden Star Post checkpoints are scattered across Green Hill Zone. They block your buildings from expanding into their surrounding area.

Destroy them with Buzz Bombers to clear that territory and unlock it for building. Note: destroying a Star Post does not terraform the area — you must build a structure there to claim it.

RESOURCES

ResourceColourUsed ForGenerated By
Rings Gold Almost everything Motobug, HQ (passive trickle), Casino Tower
Oil Blue Advanced buildings and Grounger Grounder, Oil Ocean Rig, Oil Refinery
Metal Grey Military Badniks, most buildings Crabmeat, Scrap Factory
Power Red Max active Badnik units Chemical Plant, Animal Capsule, Death Egg

DIFFICULTY MODES

ModeDescription
๐ŸŸข EASY Standard gameplay. Buildings construct instantly. Frequent Chaos Emeralds. 8 Star Posts.
๐ŸŸก NORMAL Higher resource costs, more damage from heroes, faster attacks, buildings take time to build, 14 Star Posts. Starting Power reduced to 5.
๐Ÿ”ด HARDBOILED Maximum challenge. Even higher costs, very fast heroes, double construction times, 18 Star Posts. Very rare Chaos Emeralds. Starting Power reduced to 3.

TIPS & STRATEGY

๐Ÿ”ถ Start with Motobugs — you begin with only 50 Rings. Deploy a Motobug immediately to start generating income, then build from there.

๐Ÿ”ถ Place Animal Capsules early — cheapest way to raise your power cap and get more Badniks on the field faster.

๐Ÿ”ถ Build Oil Rigs on oil pool tiles (dark blue patches on the map) and Scrap Factories on rock tiles (brown rounded bumps) for bonus resource income.

๐Ÿ”ถ Orbinauts are your shield — heroes target them first, protecting everything else. Keep 1โ€“2 near your HQ at all times. They die after 5 hits so replace them regularly.

๐Ÿ”ถ Buzz Bombers are your expansion key — you cannot progress without destroying Star Posts. Build several and watch your territory grow.

๐Ÿ”ถ The Death Egg changes everything — if you can afford one, its 5-tile terraform radius and +10 power bonus can win the game almost on its own.

๐Ÿ”ถ Click the Chaos Emeralds! — they're rare and temporary. The HQ healing emerald at a critical moment can be the difference between winning and losing.

๐Ÿ”ถ In Normal/Hardboiled: plan your building queue carefully — a Chemical Plant under construction gives no power yet. Build Animal Capsules first for cheaper, faster power.

๐Ÿ”ถ Escape key cancels a building placement selection. P key or the PAUSE button freezes the game.

Pretty cool Sonic fan game. I like how you switched things where you basically get to see eggmans point of view. I like the designs for all the characters, and I like the simple colors. I do however have a little bit of an issue. When you are buying specifally near the character, when click to spawn the character, I feel like the character does not appear. Other than that, the game is very good and its rated 10/10. Also, just so your aware, I recorded this game for my YouTube channel so if you want, I can send you the link to the video.

Hi. Thank you so much for your kind words and I am glad you like it and rate it so highly.

The idea of spawning the badnik characters is that when you make click to spawn one it should directly come from the HQ building and automatically do their job. The buildings do require choosing a place to put them on a square next to an existing building. Hopefully that is working as intended but please let me know if it isn't.

That's awesome that you have recorded a youtube video of the game. Please do send the link, I would love to watch it

Heres the link to my video.

Thank you
